Enjoy the stunning sunset at Cape Sounion during this romantic excursion. Cape Sounion is a 70 meter high rock, on the edge of the Aegean Sea, south of Athens. On this rock the ancient Greeks built one of their main temples, the temple of Poseidon.
In the late afternoon, a drive of about 1,5 hour will bring you from Athens to Sounion. Along the way, you can enjoy the beautiful view over the Saronic Gulf. We stop at a tavern on the beach, where you have the opportunity to enjoy the Greek cuisine and even take a refreshing swim in the clear waters of the Aegean Sea.
From there it’s a short way to the temple, where you arrive well before sunset. You have plenty of time to admire the temple and then find a good spot to enjoy the sunset, which is known as one of the most beautiful ones in all of Greece.
In the winter season you first visit the temple and you go, if desired, afterwards to a tavern for dinner.
