Athens as the sun goes down

Athens as the sun goes down

This tour is the ideal way to end a day full of sightseeing and museums in Athens. It is an active tour where the focus is on experiencing and seeing and not so much on listening to a guide. We walk via the street art in the trendy district Psiri to one of the hilltops around the Acropolis walk to enjoy the sunset. The local tourleader tells the students about life in contemporary Athens.

We start in the trendy district of Psiri, where many buildings are decorated with street art. Via the atmospheric streets with the old tram tracks and the popular terraces of the district Thission we walk to the hills around the Acropolis.

We walk to the top of Philopappos hill. From this point the students have a magnificent view of the Acropolis, the port of Piraeus, the coastline and the historic island of Salamina. It is one of the most beautiful places to enjoy the sunset. Here they have the city- covered with a magical glow from the evening sun-at their feet. For some extra energy the students get a pastelli here. Ever since ancient times, this is the Greek energy bar made of sesame and honey. Here they will have some time to take some great pictures and selfies.

We will end the walk at Acropolis metro station, Syntagma Square, or the Monastiraki square. Whatever is most convenient.

During the walk, the students hear stories about life in modern Athens and tips-especially for students. We can use more tourleaders so that the groups do not get too big.
