The daytrip to Nafplion can easily be combined with a visit to the archaeological sites of Mycenae, Corinth and Epidaurus, or a visit to a winery.

In the morning you head towards the Peloponnese. Via the highway, with beautiful views over the sea and the island of Salamina, you reach the famous Corinth Canal, that connects the Gulf of Corinth with the Saronic Gulf. Here you will get some time to walk over the bridge above the canal

You continue your way to the elegant town of Nafplion, the most beautiful of all mainland towns. With numerous Venetian and Turkish buildings, twisting labyrinthine streets, lovely seafront promenade and a sophisticated atmosphere.

You make a guided city walk through the old town, along Nafplions main attractions and along the waterfront.

After the citywalk you get some free time to shop, enjoy a lovely lunch, swim or go by boat to the Bourtzi fortress. This fortress was built by the Venetians on a tiny island in the harbor and originally part of the city’s defenses.

In the afternoon the bus will take you up to the Palamidifortress, the largest fortress of Greece, built on a steep hill high above Nafplion. It was built between 1711 and 1714 by the Venetians , in 1715, one year after completion, the Turks defeated it.

Before you return to Athens you will visit one of Greece oldest ouzo-distilleries. This family run business, has been continually operational for the last 145 years. Yiannis, already the 5th generation of ouzo-makers, will introduce you into the secrets of making a real good ouzo. Of course you get the possibility to taste some ouzo.

This excursion can be completely adaptable to your wishes. We can schedule a visit to one of the many archaeological sites around Nafplion, such as Ancient Corinth, Mycenae, Epidaurus or Tyrinth. It is also possible to combine Nafplion with a visit to a winery in Nemea, this region is famous for its wine, which are among the best in Greece

Of course we can also arrange a lunch for the group.
